As a net importer of natural gas, the UK is heavily dependent on reliable gas supplies from gas exporting countries such as Norway. Ramboll Oil & Gas is in charge of the detailed design of the pipeline systems for the Gjøa field, which will be connected to the UK gas transmission system.

Connecting Norway and the UK

As a net importer of natural gas, the UK is heavily dependent on reliable gas supplies from gas exporting countries such as Norway. Ramboll Oil & Gas is in charge of the detailed design of the pipeline systems for the Gjøa field, which will be connected to the UK gas transmission system.

To service the UK, Statoil has been looking into a commercially feasible development solution for the Norwegian Gjøa oil and gas field, which holds an estimated reserve of 82 million barrels of condensate and 40 billion cubic metres of gas.

Pipeline, flowline and end-structure design

Ramboll Oil & Gas has been responsible for the design of a new 131 kilometre 28" gas export line to the existing British FLAGS pipeline going to St. Fergus, as well as on site flowlines and end-structures.

The flowlines will connect five seabed templates with up to 17 oil and gas wells. The oil and gas will then be processed on a semi-submersible infield floater. Ramboll has also designed the 55 kilometre 16" oil export line connecting Gjøa to the Troll II pipeline, which carries oil from the area to the Mongstad oil terminal.

A total of 8 pipeline end structures are included in the design package.
